One person that made an impact on the world that should have a monument in Washington D.C. is Alexander Fleming. Alexander Fleming invented the substance penicillin. Penicillin is a substance that kills bacteria. Before, there was no true antibiotic that killed bacteria. “But it was not until 1928 that penicillin, the first true antibiotic, was discovered by Alexander Fleming, Professor of Bacteriology at St. Mary's Hospital in London.” Even though there were antibiotics, they still didn’t work well enough to cure or help infections. Alexander fleming’s invention of penicillin was a world changing invention. It helped destroy a lot of bacteria. “Fleming found that his "mold juice" was capable of killing a wide range of harmful bacteria, such as streptococcus, meningococcus and the diphtheria bacillus.” Penicillin helped eliminate many bacterial infections such as Pneumonia, syphilis, gonorrhea, diphtheria and scarlet fever. Although a lot of men and women died in World War two, Penicillin saved the lives of thousand of soldiers during the war. “It was only during Second World War that fellow scientists Florey and Chain were able to extract penicillin in sufficient quantities to use it as treatment.” Penicillin helped reduce the number of amputations and deaths during World War two. If I had to change one thing about the assignment, it would be to not have a video and to make an essay on the project we did and how it was interesting. We should do this because it will help us with our writing techniques and our essays can show what we took out of the project. This assignment will help me understand terms in the future because it helped me understand a lot of the terms that I had troubles with. When I put the terms in a poster that has an example picture with the term in my own words, it helps paint a better picture in my head. It helped me understand what the term means instead of just putting the definition, and trying to remember it word for word. If you have the term in your own words, make a memory trick that will help understand the term more, and make it easier to remember. We can put a stop to some of the terrorist actions that are harming innocent citizens. Apple should have allowed the FBI to hack terrorist iPhones. Terrorists are everywhere ready to commit more dangerous acts, but we could put a stop to some of them.According to Was Apple Justified in Refusing to Help the FBI, “Authorities in EU countries believe Islamic terrorist cells have mushroomed across Europe ready to commit more horrendous acts as they receive orders from their controllers in the Middle East and North Africa.” Although Apple did not allow the FBI to hack terrorist iPhones, they should have. Terrorists take action and make horrendous plans to commit horrible actions. While if the government could hack terrorist phones, the FBI could be able to stop many of their horrible plans before they are committed or even started. The FBI could save many citizens lives if they could to just overhear a horrendous call or see a message that involves the danger of the citizens of the United States. Many innocent lives are in danger when it comes to terrorism, and the government can put a stop to it. While the citizens are worried about one of their rights being violated, terrorist are making horrible plans and ready to take action. According to the pro part (Randal Holcombe) of the article Was Apple Justified in Refusing to Help the FBI, “Basic American rights were at stake, and the purpose of law is to protect people’s rights...The Fourth Amendment guarantees people this right to privacy.” According to the con part (Flora Whitt) of Was Apple Justified in Refusing to Help the FBI, “The bombings in Brussels, the European Union’s headquarters city, put all of Europe on a red alert.” If the government closes this topic about hacking the phones of the terrorists, and their not allowed to hack the phones of terrorists then the citizens of the United States will still be in danger. Although the government can’t stop every terrorist attack, they can still stop more than they are now but were worried about one of our rights. While we're worrying about our 4th amendment innocent citizens are being endangered from terrorist. Would you rather have your 4th amendment being violated, or innocent citizens in harm or danger? Apple states “refused to unlock the phone for business reasons, to protect the value of its brand.” Apple is worried about the value of its brand, but what about the value of citizens lives? Citizens of the United States are in danger of the acts of terrorism and the government could put a stop to some of their dangerous plans, but Apple refuses because they want to protect the value of its brand. Although the value of a brand is important, when it comes to citizens lives at risk the value of a brand shouldn’t even be in the way of protecting citizens. There are many terrorists in the United States making horrendous crimes, but the government could put it to an end. According to the con part (Flora Whitt) of the article Was Apple Justified in Refusing to Help the FBI, “And U.S. intelligence experts have warned for years that there may be several thousand Islamic terrorists embedded in America awaiting similar orders.” One single conversation to plan about harming the citizens and planning to harm innocent people could be stopped if the government knew about it before it was committed. If the government hacked the phone of one of the terrorists that were planning the 9/11, then they could have stopped it before it happened and all those lives that were taken that day would still be here. If the government could hack phones of terrorist then they could stop many terrorist attacks. While many of the citizens of the United States are walking around, there are many terrorists walking with them, and they don’t know who they are or what they're planning. Innocent citizens could be around terrorist and not even be aware of it. There are a lot of terrorist in the United States, and we can’t stop every dangerous plan they are trying to commit, but we can stop more than we do now if we find out about their plan and stop it before it happens. Apple should have allowed the FBI to hack terrorist iPhones because they could stop terrorist attacks, and the lives of the citizens of the United States wouldn’t be at risk from terrorism. Knowing how to shoot a layup is a good advantage in a game because they do not use as much power or control, so they are easy to put in the basket. Layups are simple, and the process is easy to follow and understand.
An overhand layup is simple to learn because the steps are easy. According to How to Make Layups, “The overhand layup is the one most commonly taught and the perfect place to start our series. It's usually taught first because most players in youth leagues are too weak to get the ball up high enough and in control. The overhand layup is the easiest in-motion layup to learn and is shot like a regular shot.” A layup is not like a jump shot where you have to use more strength to get it into the basket. Layups are an easy two point shot that go in almost every time you shoot. Even though a layup has steps to follow in order to make the shot, the steps are very simple to follow. They are very easy to learn and to process because they use little strength, control, and motion. The process of shooting a layup is very simple. According to, How to make layups, “When you actually shoot the ball, your target should be on the sides of the square on the backboard somewhere between the middle and the top of the square.” The first step in a right overhand layup is to start facing the right side of the basket. As you dribble toward the basket make sure when the ball is picked up only take two steps because if you take more than two then it's called traveling. Traveling is when the ball is not being dribbled, but you're still moving both of your feet. You only get two steps into the basket when shooting a layup. When you start to get close to the basket pick up the ball and approach with the right foot. After, step with the left foot, and go toward the basket and jump. While jumping bring the right knee up. The body and right hand should extend to the basket. As you extend the right arm aim for the top corner of the square on the backboard. The first step in an left overhand layup is to start facing the left side of the basket. As the same with the right overhand layup, you can only take two steps to the basket without dribbling, or it's called for traveling. When you start to get close to the basket pick up the ball, and approach with the left foot. After, step with the right foot, and go toward the basket and jump. While jumping, bring the left knee up. The body and left hand should extend toward the basket. As you extend the left arm aim for the top corner of the square on the backboard. There are many benefits in learning how to make a layup. According to google.com “LeBron James is shooting a career-worst 26.4 percent from 3-point range.” Layups are easy two point shots, so it’s important to learn because you can make a lot of points with them. Take Lebron James for example, his 3 pointer shots aren’t going in this year, but he makes a lot of points each game because of his layups. A layup is an easy two point shot, but it is still important to learn because it has a big advantage in games when you need a simple shot to win a game a layup will work because it’s easy to make. Ensue (Verb) - As a result B. The storm ensued in bad damages, and a lot of things were destroyed. C. Ensue I went to one of my brother's football games. I had empathy for my friend Kailee because she was sitting on the bleachers all by herself, so I went over and talked to her. Although I was trying to be nice, I know I was exasperating to her. Even though I had hope for South Central, I knew that the game was going to be a fiasco because we were facing Saint Paul. I had sympathy for one of the players on our team because he got hurt and I know how it feels to get hurt in a game. I had apathy for one of the players on the other team because they got injured when they tried to hurt one of our players. While we were watching the game, we saw a cheerleader in our stands that were garnished in Saint Paul gear. Even though my brother was mad because they were losing, he was gratified with his tackles. While we were watching the game, Kailee used connotation when she said that one of the players were as sneaky as a snake. When we got up to walk around, I saw a crack in the ground, and it reminded me of a small fault except faults are deep cracks between two plates. Because we are young and naive, we know little about football. South Central got obliterated because Saint Paul is a very good team.
As I see it being famous is not the best thing, many famous people can't enjoy their life because they always have a camera in their face. "Lawrence said that simply stepping outside her front door gives her anxiety. Indeed, famous people can’t so much as walk their dogs or tie their shoes without being gawked at, photographed, tweeted about, or Instagrammed." Fans and others are always taking pictures and tweeting about them, so they can never have time alone to relax and enjoy their life. Although being famous comes with a lot of money is that all it comes with? Famous people stress, crack under pressure, can't make any friends because they don't know whether they're just being their friends because of the money, and they never get to enjoy the life that they have worked hard for because of all of the cameras in their face.
Famous people usually crack under pressure. "Take Justin Bieber. By age 16, he was cranking out chart-topping hits and earning millions of dollars on sold-out concert tours. Lately, however, it seems like the 22-year-old has been spending most of his time apologizing for his bad behavior. He’s been arrested for drunk driving and charged with vandalism, and he has bailed on multiple shows." Being famous can sometimes get overwhelming, people are always there whether there taking pictures or trying to to get an interview they never let them get time alone. All these fans stress them out and they might do things like drink or do drugs to keep their focus off all the stress. Although being famous comes with money, money is not the only thing included. "She earns more money from one movie than most people make in a lifetime....To outsiders, constant attention might seem glamorous. In reality, though, it brings an enormous amount of stress." "Or look at Shia LaBeouf. Once a star of hit movies like Transformers, LaBeouf is now known mostly for bizarre public meltdowns and struggles with drugs and alcohol.” Put all of these things together, and I say being famous is not worth it. You can earn a good amount of money without being famous, and you could enjoy your life without so much stress. Even though being famous seems great it’s not as much as it seems, of course they earn a lot of money, but can money create a person’s happiness? “Turns out, the happiness that comes from fame is fleeting. It’s the kind of happiness you get when you buy a new purse,” explains Donna Rockwell, a psychologist who specializes in celebrity mental health. “That kind of happiness fades within no time.” While being famous sounds great many of them can't make friends. "But according to Rockwell, it can be difficult for a celebrity to trust others and to make and keep true friends. Stars have to wonder if their “friends” like them for who they are or for what they have." Famous people have a lot of money of course, and many of them think because of their money they have friends. Would they have as many friends as they do now if they had no money? Money can't buy true friends, but it can buy untruthful fake friends that just want your money. As I see it being famous is just a loss of friendship. While were out partying with our friends and enjoying our life famous people are being instagrammed, photographed, and hovered over, so just be glad that your life is about love and friendship not attention and cameras. During Christmas break, I spent most of the time with my family and friends. After Christmas at my house, I went to my grandmas. While I was there I spent much of my time with my cousins. First, we did many activities like playing hide and seek, playing board games, and just spending a lot of time with each other. After all the activities we opened presents and had dinner. I also went to my friend Kailee's house. It was my first time ever going to her house. Even though we didn't do many things because I was not allowed to go outside or leave her house, I still had fun. While I was there we watched a movie and talked. Although it was fun while it lasted I had to leave the next morning. On new year's eve, I went to my grandmas. I spent time with my family, and I stayed up until two. We all gathered in her living room and watched the ball drop. All together I had a great Christmas break. Even though I’m 13 years old I have an idea of what I want to do when I become an adult. My GPA is 3.7, so i’m doing pretty well but I still don’t have a 4.0, so I need to try harder and study more. I like to draw, illustrate, and do other artwork. I also like using computers to make designs. When I grow up I plan on being a Graphic Designer.
When I grow up I plan on being a Graphic Designer. I will become a Graphic Designer by working on art and design in high school. According to www.bls.gov, “High school students interested in graphic design should take basic art and design courses in high school.” In high school I will work photography which is the processing of photographs, and I need to work on making logos and designs. Even though I am good at designing and drawing I still need to put my illustrations in an educational way. I will join art class in high school to improve my artistic skills. In order to become a Graphic Designer I will need to get a Bachelor’s Degree. According to www.bls.gov, “Graphic designers usually need a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field.” Since I need a Bachelor’s Degree I will need to go to college. It will take about four years of full-time studying to complete my Bachelor’s Degree. After I do the 4 years of college then I have the skills to be a Graphic Designer, so I will be prepared for my career. Graphic Designing is in demand in many different places, and gets paid an average of $43,100 a year. According to the Ohio Means Jobs website “3288987 Sun Publishing Group, a family owned community media company based in Batavia, Ohio, with newspapers, websites, magazines and specialty publication is looking for a talented design and pagination artist to help.” I can go to Batavia in Ohio to get a job in Graphic Designing. Also I can get a job in Graphic Designing in Wilmington Ohio. There are many different places I can go to get a job in Graphic Designing. Many of the jobs in Graphic Designing are in Ohio so I wouldn’t have to leave Ohio to get a job in Graphic Designing. I get good money to be a Graphic Designer and it’s something that I’m interested in to where it could be my lifetime career. Career day helped me understand this job more by learning that if I have a higher degree than I owe more money to the bank, and a Graphic Designer has to have a Bachelor’s Degree, so that would probably be a good amount of money owed to the bank. |
